Report a property to the council.
If you think a property near you may be operating as an HMO without a licence, tell us and we’ll pass it to the council, who have the power to investigate. We do not investigate, and we do not publish what you tell us.
What happens to your report

- 2We read it. If it looks substantive, we pass it to the relevant council.
- 3The council decides whether to investigate. They have powers we don’t.
- 4We publish a count of reports at ward level only — never against an address.
What we will never do with it
We will never show your report against an address, name an owner, mark a property on the map, or make any public statement that a property is unlicensed. Being absent from a register is not proof of anything — and operating an unlicensed HMO is a criminal offence, so we are careful not to imply one has been committed.
Reporting a property needs a free account.
Not to charge you — reporting is free. A report is an allegation that a criminal offence may be being committed at an address someone lives at, and an anonymous one is something we would have no way to stand behind. An account means a report can be traced to a person if a council asks, and it means nobody can file hundreds against addresses they dislike.

You never need an account to remove your address. That stays open to anyone, always.
